About the Attorneys of Empowered Family Law

Kristine K. McCulloch

Kristine McCulloch is an experienced attorney and mediator with over 13 years of experience. As the founder and owner of Empowered Family Law, she is a creative and results-driven problem solver who helps her clients discover and harness their inner strength.
Krissy has been practicing family law exclusively in Mobile since 2008, when she started at Conrad & Barlar (which became Conrad Barlar & McCulloch in 2013). She is also a mediator certified in Domestic Relations and Domestic Violence and has extensive experience in Domestic Relations and Juvenile courts advocating for parents and for children as guardian ad litem.
When her mentor David Conrad passed away in 2014, Krissy continued to develop the family law practice he had been so passionate about until she and her other mentor, Danny Barlar, decided to amicably diverge firms in 2021.
For Krissy, family law is more than a career. It’s also a calling. As a child of divorce, she understands the impact it has on children and families. When she went through her own divorce in 2018 and became a full-time single mom, she discovered a new passion for a holistic approach to family law. Today, she uses that approach to minimize the damage families experience while providing zealous advocacy for clients.
“We empower families to navigate difficult changes and create new beginnings,” Krissy says. To help her stay on this path, she keeps herself centered through physical fitness and mindfulness.
She lives in Mobile with her two children, Fiona (7) and Graeme (4).

Marie Davis
As an attorney at Empowered Family Law, Marie Davis draws on experience in both public service and the business world to help clients achieve their goals. Since 2009 she has represented individuals and corporations in courtrooms throughout the state of Alabama. Marie cut her teeth as an attorney at a statewide non-profit organization where she assisted survivors of domestic violence in a variety of family law cases. Later, as a managing attorney at a national creditor’s firm, she broadened her skills by representing large companies in bankruptcy, commercial, and real estate matters. Ultimately, Marie decided to return to her roots and joined Empowered Family Law out of her desire to serve people rather than corporations. With that mindset, Marie has always observed that the best attorneys are those who have a heart for their clients. Through careful preparation and attention to detail, they get great results and earn trust. Working as a team, the attorney and client are oriented toward a common purpose. Though the attorney is the leader, her goal is to serve.
In addition to practicing law, Marie enjoys music of all kinds, reading, long walks, and most of all, hanging out with her family.
